“A broad education in the arts helps give children a better understanding of their world…We need students who are culturally literate as well as math and science literate.”
–Paul Ostergard, Vice President, Citicorp
A wise man indeed is this Mr. Paul Ostergard. As educators we should strive to educate the whole student, including creating opportunities for them to develop cultural literacy. With that in mind, I gathered a few of our friends together this past week for a little art fun!
Students learned a little about Mondrian, Klimt, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, and O’Keeffe. They created their own “masterpieces” based on the works of these great artists.
“Thank you” parents for sharing your children with me for this mini-camp! -MW
